Design Engineer Intern (S26)

Gale helps American businesses get work authorization for their employees. We use modern tech and AI to streamline the entire immigration process. We are all Waterloo alumni, backed by Y Combinator, Velocity, and Axiom Partners.

As a design engineer intern, you’ll primarily be designing AI-powered internal tooling for lawyers. You’ll manage the full product development cycle for your work, from feature scoping to development and feedback iteration.

This role may also have a significant frontend development portion to it as well. Be prepared to write React, at least with Claude.

We expect you to work effectively with the following languages and frameworks: - TypeScript - React - Figma

We need to see:

- A love for designing thoughtful web applications - Experience shipping LLM-powered interfaces and products to production
This is probably not the role for you if: - You’re not interested in the entire product development cycle, from scoping to design to building and iterating on feedback.
Logistics: - Remote out of Canada or the USA - CANADIANS: you will work as a contractor, so you should be ready to withhold your own taxes from your paycheque. We can help you with this.
